The front building is 26x38 feet, two stories. The rear building is 28x38 feet, two and onehalf stories. There are two barns; one is 60x80 feet, the other 40x60 feet. All buildings are in good condition. Tubs are used for bathing, and wood stoves for heating. Ventilation is by means of doors and windows. Paupers are well treated, have good food and good, suitable clothing. The sick are well cared for. Have no accommodations for the insane and idiotic. Children recite their lessons once a day to the matron. Iron.--No poorhouse nor farm. Isabella.--Poorhouse is located in the township of Chippewa. It is in good condition, and all the buildings are good. Facilities for bathing are good--bath-room and bath-tub. Building warmed by wood stoves. The ventilation is good, each room being supplied with ventilators. The treatment of paupers is good; food, farm fare; the clothing good. The sick are well cared for. For the insane and idiotic there are four iron-grated cells. Have no children here to educate. Jackson--Poorhouse is located in the township of Blackman. It was burned January 24,1886. It was completely destroyed with all of its contents, and five of the inmates were also burned. We are now building a new house which will be ready for occupancy about the first of January, and when completed we think will be one of the best and most complete for the cost in the State. This, with all the out-buildings, is in first class order. Facilities for bathing are bath-tubs in bath-rooms, supplied with hot and cold water.
